DESIGN CHALLENGE
Partner with PLNU’s Office of Sustainability for Creation Care Week to spark dialogue and action on plastic pollution, fast fashion, and food waste. Use human-centered research to connect climate change to shared concerns, highlight mitigation efforts, and empower individuals with solutions.
CREATIVE SOLUTION
This visual campaign aimed to raise climate change awareness at PLNU, focusing on microplastics’ impact on marine life. Inspired by climate scientist Katherine Hayhoe, I structured the designs into three key sections: ‘The Good News,’ ‘The Not-So-Good News,’ and ‘What You Can Do.’ The campaign sought to engage students by starting with a shared concern—plastic waste—leading naturally into a broader discussion on climate action. A central banner highlighted the issue, featuring a fish collage made from plastic waste alongside bold typography and a clean layout to convey key information. To extend engagement, the campaign included resin-encased microplastic keychain takeaways as tangible conversation starters and a coordinated social media post that reinforced the message with consistent branding and a clear call to action.
WHY THIS MATTERS
This multi-touchpoint campaign uses posters, digital media, and branded takeaways to reinforce climate awareness. Consistent branding across banners, social media, and keychains ensures repeated exposure, strengthening the message and inspiring action at Point Loma Nazarene University.
